How Twilio Works with WhatSnap
Since WhatSnap overrides the default SMS channel in GoHighLevel, we've integrated Twilio as a separate channel within WhatSnap to ensure you maintain full flexibility in your messaging strategy.
Channel Selection in Workflows
When building workflows in GoHighLevel, you can choose between different channels to send messages to your contacts:
WhatSnap SMS: For conversational, person-to-person (P2P) messaging using your physical SIM cards
Twilio: For Application-to-Person (A2P) messaging, high-volume campaigns, or cases where A2P compliance is required
This means you can still leverage your existing Twilio phone numbers and infrastructure directly from your workflows, even while using WhatSnap for conversational SMS.
When to Use Each Channel
Use WhatSnap SMS when:
You need conversational, two-way messaging
Building personal relationships with contacts
Sending messages that appear as genuine person-to-person communication
Maximum deliverability for conversational content
Use Twilio when:
Sending high-volume, non-conversational messages
A2P compliance and registration is required
Transactional notifications (order confirmations, shipping updates, etc.)
Automated alerts and reminders at scale
International messaging to regions where A2P is preferred
Ideal Use Cases
International messaging
Transactional notifications (order confirmations, shipping updates, password resets)
Automated system alerts
One-time passwords (OTP) and verification codes
Non-conversational automated communications
Full documentation for Twilio A2P setup will be added soon. Check back or contact support@whatsnap.ai for early access.
