Using Lead Connector vs. Native Phone App

Two Ways to Manage Messages

Option 1: Use Lead Connector App (Recommended)

  • ✅ All messages sync to GoHighLevel

  • ✅ Complete conversation history

  • ✅ Can access from any device

  • ✅ Integrate with CRM workflows

  • ✅ Team can see conversations

Option 2: Use Native Phone App

  • ✅ Messages go directly to phone's Messages app

  • ✅ Faster response (no GHL middleman)

  • ✅ More familiar interface

  • ❌ Messages DON'T sync to GoHighLevel

  • ❌ No conversation history in CRM

  • ❌ Team can't see these messages

Best Practice: Use Lead Connector app for business messages to keep everything synced in GoHighLevel. Use native Messages app only for personal messages.

Configuration: Lead Connector + WhatSnap

If WhatSnap Gateway is NOT Default SMS App on Android:

  • ✅ Lead Connector app works perfectly

  • ✅ Messages route through GHL and sync bidirectionally

  • ✅ Native Messages app still usable for personal texts

  • This is the recommended setup

If WhatSnap Gateway IS Default SMS App on Android:

  • ⚠️ Lead Connector still works

  • ⚠️ But native Messages app inbox becomes unusable

  • ⚠️ WhatSnap takes over all SMS handling

  • 🔄 Only necessary if you need MMS support

Clients Using Lead Connector with Their Own Phones

Client Perspective

If your client wants to respond directly from their phone:

Setup:

  1. Client downloads Lead Connector app

  2. You create GoHighLevel login for client (or give them access)

  3. They log into Lead Connector

  4. They can now respond to conversations directly

Benefits:

  • ✅ Client responds in real-time

  • ✅ All messages still go through WhatSnap (your Android device)

  • ✅ Conversation history syncs to GHL

  • ✅ You maintain oversight and reporting

  • ✅ Client doesn't need to manage Android device

Alternative: Native Phone App for Clients

If WhatSnap Gateway is NOT set as default:

  • Client can see messages in their native phone's Messages app

  • They can reply directly from Messages app

  • ⚠️ Trade-off: Replies from native app DON'T sync to GoHighLevel

  • Only messages sent through WhatSnap/Lead Connector sync to GHL

Troubleshooting Lead Connector with WhatSnap

Messages Not Appearing in Lead Connector

Check these:

  1. ✅ WhatSnap Gateway app is running on Android device

  2. ✅ Device shows "Connected" status in WhatSnap dashboard

  3. ✅ Lead Connector app is logged into correct sub-account

  4. ✅ Contact has correct device tag assigned

  5. ✅ Refresh Lead Connector app (pull down to refresh)

Solutions:

  • Force close and reopen Lead Connector app

  • Check internet connection on your phone

  • Verify WhatSnap integration in GoHighLevel Settings

Can't Send Messages from Lead Connector

Common causes:

  • ⚠️ Android device is offline or disconnected

  • ⚠️ Contact doesn't have device tag assigned

  • ⚠️ WhatSnap Gateway app not running

  • ⚠️ SIM card issue on Android device

Solutions:

  1. Check Android device status in WhatSnap dashboard

  2. Verify contact has tag (e.g., whatsnap-account-android-1)

  3. Restart WhatSnap Gateway app

  4. Test sending SMS directly from Android device's Messages app

Delayed Message Delivery

Why this happens:

  • Android device temporarily offline

  • Network congestion

  • High message volume causing queue

Normal delays:

  • Typical: 5-30 seconds

  • During high volume: 1-3 minutes

  • If device offline: Messages queue until device reconnects

If delays are longer:

  • Check Android device internet connection

  • Verify WhatSnap Gateway app is running

  • Restart device if needed
